Argentina: Sindicatos en la Estrategia Iberoamericana de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo (EISST) El gobierno argentino firmó con las centrales sindicales del país y la Confederación Sindical de Trabajadores/as de las Américas (CSA) un convenio de protección a salud y seguridad de la clase trabajadora. El acuerdo fue oficializado hoy durante un evento que reunió autoridades del país, dirigentes sindicales y actores sociales vinculados al mundo del trabajo. Entre estas organizaciones a la UOCRA, organización afiliada de la ICM en Argentina. Esta es la primera ocasión en la región en que el movimiento sindical se vincula en la implementación de la Estrategia Iberoamericana de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo (EISST). El documento, aprobado en 2009 por las autoridades laborales iberoamericanas, ha permitido introducir el tema en la agenda política de los países.

SOCAMGLyP de Argentina 28 de Abril para visita de obras y jornada de reflexión El SOCAMGLyP de Argentina realizó una serie de visitas a obras en marcha el día 27 de abril donde se desarrollaron charlas a cargo de los delegados sindicales en los lugares de trabajo apoyados en la repartición de cuadernillos e información sobre la Prevención de Riesgo en el Trabajo, pegue de afiches alusivos al 28 de abril como Día Internacional Conmemorativo de los fallecidos y lesionados por accidentes de trabajo. En la tarde del día 28 se realizó una jornada de reflexión sobre seguridad laboral en el mundo del trabajo a cargo del especialista Dr. Luis E. Ramírez y Héctor L. Moretto, La jornada fue inaugurada por el Cro. Jorge A. Bisón, Secretario General de la organización y participaron trabajadores afiliados.

UOCRA En los cursos de los programas de la UOCRA en los Centros de Formación Profesional distribuidos por todo el país, se darán charlas con mención especial en memoria de los trabajadores fallecidos y accidentados. Las charlas harán énfasis en la importancia de las condiciones de trabajo, indistinto sea el oficio y el lugar donde se realiza. En todos los casos se hará entrega a las compañeras y compañeros de material gráfico destacando la importancia de alcanzar una verdadera “Cultura de la Prevención”.

Como parte de las actividades institucionales, UOCRA también participará como expositor en la “Semana Argentina de la Salud y la Seguridad en el Trabajo” llevando la experiencia real del sector construcción a esta importante jornada organizada por el Ministerio de Trabajo de la Nación. La jornada de reflexión sobre Salud Laboral y prevención de accidentes también ha sido auspiciada por la Confederación Sindical de las Américas (CSA) y la Organización Iberoamericana de la Seguridad Social (OISS). Este espacio será propicio para suscribir el acuerdo de seguimiento de la “Estrategia Iberoamericana de Salud Laboral” iniciativa impulsada por los sindicatos de América Latina y El Caribe. 

Los días 28 y 29 de abril y en el marco del “Congreso Anual Ordinario de Delegados la UOCRA”, que se realizará en la Ciudad de Mar del Plata, Provincia de Buenos Aires, será otro espacio para destacar la importancia de la Salud Laboral en el marco del tripartismo  (Gobierno, Trabajadores y Empleadores), basado en un efectivo Dialogo Social.

Simultáneamente al congreso de Mar del Plata, tanto UOCRA como la Confederación General del Trabajo (CGT-RA) y otras organizaciones afiliadas realizarán un acto en el salón central de la sede principal en memoria de las compañeras y los compañeros fallecidos o lesionados por accidentes de trabajo. Igualmente se brindará un minuto de silencio en cada obra y proyecto de construcción en memoria de las compañeras y compañeros fa llecidos, seguido de charlas, reflexiones y concientización sobre la importancia de la salud laboral, tomando como eje central el  lema de nuestra internacional "El Trabajo Sindicalizado es Más Seguro."

UOCRA avanza como entidad sindical al servicio de los hombres y mujeres de la construcción, apostando a la vida y la salud de las y los compañeros trabajadores y sus familias.

CGT/UOCRA For this 28th April, the Confederación General del Trabajo of Argentina (CGT) will organise a ceremony in its headquarters, to commemorate workers who died or were injured at the job. The ceremony will take place around the memorial which has been installed for 28th April in the main gallery of the CGT building, and will include a minute of silence, debates and awareness raising on the importance of improving occupational health and safety, under the theme “Unions make work safer” The Argentinean construction workers’ union UOCRA will incorporate special references to April, 28th in its training centers spread across the country. These conferences will highlight the importance of working conditions, and materials on the need for a “culture of prevention” will be distributed. On April 28 and 29, in the framework of UOCRA’s Annual Congress, a conference on Occupational Safety and Health will be organized. All Argentinean unions will actively participate in the Argentinean Week on Occupational Health and Safety”, organized by the Argentinean Labour Ministry, which was inaugurated yesterday in Buenos Aires, by the Argentinean Minister of Labour, and counted with the participation of General Secretaries of the CGT and the CTA and Argentinean employers.

La ceremonia se llevará a cabo alrededor de la placa conmemorativa  que se ha instalado para el 28 de abril en la galería principal del edificio de la CGT, e incluirá un minuto de silencio, debates y sensibilización sobre la importancia de mejorar la salud y seguridad en el trabajo, bajo el lema "Con sindicatos el trabajo es más seguro". El sindicato de trabajadores de la construcción argentino UOCRA incorporará referencias especiales al 28 de abril en sus centros de formación distribuidos en todo el país. Estas conferencias destacarán la importancia de las condiciones de trabajo y se distribuirán materiales sobre la necesidad de una "cultura de la prevención". La cérémonie aura lieu autour de la plaque commémorative qui a été installé pour le 28 avril dans la galerie principale de l'immeuble de la CGT, et comprendra une minute de silence, des débats et aussi des activités de sensibilisation sur l'importance d'améliorer la santé et sécurité au travail, sous le thème "Les syndicats rendent le travail plus sûr" Le syndicat des travailleurs de la construction argentins UOCRA intégrera une référence spéciale au 28 avril dans ses centres de formation répartis dans tout le pays. Ces conférences mettront en lumière l'importance des conditions de travail, et des matériaux sur la nécessité d'une «culture de prévention» seront distribués. Le 28 et 29 avril, dans le cadre du congrès annuel de l’UOCRA, une conférence sur la sécurité et la santé sera organisée. BLF For the 10th year, this 28th April, the Bangladesh Labour Federation (BLF) will hold a memorial ceremony in BLF Office, Dhaka, Bangladesh with BLF leaders, members, activists, injured workers and their families. Various activities will be organized to raise awareness of occupational health & safety under the theme of 'Trade unions Make Work safer'. BLF will organize a special prayer, debates and a candle lighting ceremony on 28th April afternoon. For this occasion, the most dangerous workplaces will be announced.
Between May and June, BLF will conduct various campaigns to promote OHS nationwide.

FGTB More than 500 trade unionists are expected to join a major event, organised by the Belgian trade union FGTB on the 28th April in Bois du Casier de Marcinelle (a former mining site, where more than 200 miners lost their lives in 1956). The meeting will focus on Musculoskeletal disorders (MSD). This event is organised jointly by FGTB, Charleroi’s Social Forum’s “Health group” and the C-DAST -Liège (the Center for the defense and action for workers’ health).

ACV-CSC For this 28 April the Belgian trade union confederation ACV-CSC will focus on “dangerous products” in the context of the new European Union’s Regulation on Classification, Labeling and Packaging of chemical substances and mixtures.  A new brochure ‘dangerous products, new law and new label’ will be distributed freely by ACV-CSC shop stewards in several hundreds of Belgian companies. This brochure will help workers to identify and correctly use dangerous products and alert them for the often unknown hazards. As in previous years, the ACV-CSC also designed a flyer to draw the attention to the number of occupational accidents in Belgium. ACV-CSC, along with the Belgian trade union (FGTB) will organize a governmental seminar on good Health and Safety Inspection, in cooperation with the Belgian Federal government.  This will draw lessons learnt from inspection practices in neighboring countries and promote an open discussion about inspection systems, as a means for improving Safety and Health at Work in Belgium.

ACV-CSC Para este 28 de abril, la central sindical belga ACV-CSC se centrará en los "productos peligrosos" en el marco del nuevo reglamento de la Unión Europea en materia de clasificación, etiquetado y envasado de sustancias y mezclas químicas. Un nuevo folleto ' productos peligrosos, la nueva ley y la nueva etiqueta” será distribuido gratuitamente por los delegados sindicales ACV-CSC en varios cientos de lugares de trabajo belgas. Este folleto ayudará a los trabajadores a identificar y usar correctamente los productos peligrosos y alertarles de los peligros a menudo desconocidos. Al igual que en años anteriores, el ACV-CSC también diseñó un volante para llamar la atención sobre el número de accidentes de trabajo en Bélgica.
ACV-CSC, junto con el sindicato belga FGTB organizará un seminario sobre “buena Inspección del trabajo en Salud y Seguridad”, en cooperación con el Gobierno federal belga. Para ello se explorarán las lecciones aprendidas de las prácticas de inspección en los países vecinos, a fin de promover un debate abierto sobre los sistemas de inspección, como medio de mejorar la Seguridad y la Salud en el Trabajo en Bélgica.

ACV-CSC Pour ce 28 avril, la confédération syndicale belge ACV-CSC mettra l'accent sur les "produits dangereux" dans le cadre des nouvelles règlementations de l’Union Européenne sur la classification, étiquetage et emballage des substances et des mélanges chimiques. Une  nouvelle brochure : « produits dangereux, la nouvelle loi et le nouveau label » sera distribué gratuitement par les délégués syndicaux ACV-CSC dans plusieurs centaines de lieux de travail. Cette brochure aidera les travailleurs à identifier et utiliser correctement les produits dangereux et à les sensibiliser à des dangers souvent inconnus. Comme les années précédentes, l'ACV-CSC a également conçu un dépliant à fin d'attirer l'attention sur le nombre d'accidents professionnels en Belgique. L’ACV-CSC, avec le syndicat belge FGTB organisera un séminaire gouvernemental sur la bonne inspection du travail sur santé et sécurité, en coopération avec le gouvernement fédéral belge. Le séminaire tirera des enseignements des pratiques d'inspection dans les pays voisins, a fin de promouvoir un débat ouvert sur les systèmes d'inspection, comme un moyen d'améliorer la sécurité et la santé au travail en Belgique.

UNSTB As part of the International Commemoration Day for Dead and Injured workers, the Union Nationale des Syndicats de Travailleurs du Bénin (UNSTB) intends to officially launch for this April 28th a nationwide campaign to publicize the implementation of their Universal Health Insurance Scheme which aims at better sharing the risks and costs associated with disease. Indeed, the Universal Health Insurance Scheme is a social health insurance system which in the long run will protect all Beninese people against the financial consequences of health risks. It is an insurance-based mechanism characterized by the diversity of its entities, and the fact that all workers without exception will be benefited (those working in the public and private sector and those in the informal economy).

UNSTB En el marco del dia Internacional de la Salud Laboral, Union Nationale des Syndicats de Travailleurs du Bénin (UNSTB) tiene la intención de lanzar oficialmente este  28 de abril 2010 una campaña nacional para dar a conocer la aplicación del Plan de Cobertura Universal de Salud, realizado para lograr una mejor distribución del riesgo y de los costos asociados con la enfermedad. De hecho, el Plan de Cobertura Universal de Salud es un sistema de seguro social  que a largo plazo protegerá a todo el pueblo de Benin de las consecuencias financieras de los riesgos vinculados a las enfermedades. Se trata de un dispositivo de seguro que se caracteriza por la diversidad de entidades que lo componen, y que busca proteger a todos los trabajadores, sin excepción, tanto los que trabajan en los sectores público y privado, que en el sector informal.

UNSTB Dans le cadre de la commémoration de la journée des morts et blessés, l’Union Nationale des Syndicats de Travailleurs du Bénin (UNSTB) se propose de lancer officiellement une campagne nationale de vulgarisation de la mise en œuvre du Régime d’Assurance Maladie Universelle dans le cadre du partage des risques et des dépenses liées à la maladie le 28 avril 2010.

En effet, le Régime d’Assurance Maladie Universelle est un système de couverture sociale maladie  destiné à terme, à protéger l’ensemble des populations béninoises contre les conséquences financières du risque maladie.  Il s’agit d’un dispositif à dominance assuranciel qui se caractérise par la diversité d’entités qui la composent, et qui concerne tous les travailleurs sans exclusion aussi bien ceux exerçant dans le secteur public et privé, que ceux du secteur informel.

Brazil Solidaridade de Brasil: 28 de Abril, Acciones de Calle y Difusión El 28 de abril en que se conmemora el Día Internacional de los Fallecidos y Lesionados por Accidentes de Trabajo, SOLIDARIDADE de Brasil visitó dos proyectos de construcción en la Ciudad de Sao Paulo, uno de la Constructora Rossi y otro en la Constructora TRISUL, para difundir y compartir con los trabajadores la necesidad de hacer cumplir la legislación en materia de salud e higiene ocupacional así como crear conciencia de clase para enfrentar de manera efectiva los problemas más apremiantes de los trabajadores en la industria de la construcción. more

Brazil For this 28th April, all Brazilian confederations (CUT, CGTB, FS, NCST, UGT and CTB) call their union leaders, union federations, and OHS representatives to participate in a meeting in the Brazilian Parliament. Artur Henrique da Silva Santos, President of CUT will be one of the speakers. The meeting will be calling for strengthened legislation in favor of workers’ health, defending the Nexo Técnico epidemiológico Previdenciário (which puts the charge of proving the link between a professional accident or disease and working conditions to the employer, rather than on the worker), and in favour of a national policy on workers’ health. In addition, the CUT asked its affiliates to develop activities in support of worker's health during the week of April 28. These actions include using union newsletters, seek support in the local media, newspapers, radios and TVs, report and denounce employers for accidents and illnesses, support workers’ struggles and the strengthening of their organisations. The UGT also invited its members to participate in a rally in commemoration of dead and injured workers, to be organised in Belem at 8:00. On the 29th, a meeting will be organized in the University.

BRASIL Para este 28 de abril, todas las confederaciones de Brasil (CUT, CGTB, FS, NCST, UGT y CTB) llamar a sus líderes sindicales, federaciones sindicales, y representantes de SST a participar en una reunión en el Parlamento brasileño. Artur Henrique da Silva Santos, Presidente de la CUT será uno de los oradores. La reunión pide reforzar la legislación en favor de la salud de los trabajadores, la defensa del Nexo Técnico Epidemiológico Previdenciário (que pone la carga de la prueba de la relación entre un accidente o enfermedad profesional y las condiciones de trabajo en el empleador, y no en el trabajador), y en favor de una política nacional sobre la salud de los trabajadores.
Además, la CUT ha pedido a sus afiliados desarrollar actividades de apoyo a la salud del trabajador durante la semana del 28 de abril. Estas acciones incluyen el uso de boletines sindicales, buscar apoyo en los medios de comunicación locales, periódicos, radios y tv, informar y denunciar a los empleadores por los accidentes y enfermedades profesionales, apoyar a los trabajadores y el fortalecimiento de sus organizaciones.
La UGT también ha invitado a sus miembros a participar en una manifestación en conmemoración de los trabajadores muertos y heridos, que se celebrará en Belem a las 8:00. El día 29, una reunión será organizada en la Universidad.

BRÉSIL Pour ce 28 avril, toutes les confédérations du Brésil (CUT, CGTB, FS, NCST, l'UGT et CTB) appellent leurs dirigeants syndicaux, fédérations syndicales, et responsables de SST à participer à une réunion au Parlement brésilien. Artur Henrique da Silva Santos, président de la CUT sera l'un des orateurs. La réunion appellera à une législation renforcée en faveur de la santé des travailleurs, la défense des Nexo Técnico Epidemiologico Previdenciário (qui met la charge de prouver le lien entre un accident du travail ou de maladie et les conditions de travail à l'employeur, plutôt que sur le travailleur), et en faveur d'une politique nationale sur la santé des travailleurs.En outre, la CUT a demandé à ses affiliés de développer des activités en soutien de la santé des travailleurs au cours de la semaine du 28 avril. Ces actions comprennent l'utilisation de bulletins syndicaux, le soutien des  médias locaux, journaux, radios et télévisions, l’information et dénonciation des employeurs pour les accidents et les maladies, le soutien aux travailleurs et le renforcement de leurs organisations.L'UGT a également invité ses membres à participer à un rassemblement à la mémoire des travailleurs morts et de blessés, qui sera organisé à Belem à 8:00. Le 29, une réunion sera organisée à l'Université.

CITUB More than 300 Bulgarian workers and trade unionists, along with representatives of the Ministry of Labour & Social Policy, employers’ organizations, labour inspectors, among others are expected to inaugurate more than 18 worker memorial places, responding to the call of the CITUB, the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria. After this 28th April, the cities of Sofia, Haskovo, Lucky, Gabrovo, Kremikovtzi, Pernik, Bobov Dol, Lom, Radnevo, Burgas, Shumen, Sliven, Stara Zagora, Strumyantsi, Madan, Ruse, Silistra and Dobrich will have a dedicated place to commemorate those who have lost their life at work. After those commemorations, round tables will be held on health and safety at work.

In addition, this 28th April, Brother Jeliazko Hristov, the President of the CITUB will hand the “PROMETEIYA Awards” to those enterprises that respect occupational health and safety at work.

CITUB Más de 300 sindicalistas y trabajadores y trabajadoras búlgaros inaugurarán monumentos y fuentes conmemorativas en 18 ciudades búlgaras en respuesta a la llamada de la CITUB, la Confederación de Sindicatos Independientes de Bulgaria. A partir de este 28 de abril, las ciudades de Sofia, Haskovo, Lucky, Gabrovo, Kremikovtzi, Pernik, Bobov Dol, Lom, Radnevo, Burgas, Shumen, Sliven, Stara Zagora, Strumyantsi, Madan, Ruse, Silistra y Dobrich tendrán un espacio dedicado a conmemorar a los que han perdido la vida en el trabajo. Luego de las conmemoraciones, se organizarán mesas redondas sobre la salud y seguridad en el trabajo.

Además, este 28 de abril, el compañero Jeliazko Hristov de la CITUB entregará los premios " PROMETEIYA" a aquellas empresas que respetan la salud laboral.

Тринадесет години, по призива на Международната конфедерация на свободните профсъюзи, световната синдикална общност отбелязва  28 април като ДЕН В ПАМЕТ НА ЗАГИНАЛИТЕ ПРИ ТРУДОВИ ЗЛОПОЛУКИ РАБОТНИЦИ. От четири години Международната организация на труда отбелязва този ден като Международен ден по безопасност и здраве при работа и достоен труд.
За пореден път Конфедерацията на независимите синдикати в България   откликва на този призив, отдавайки  по подобаващ начин почит към паметта на трудовите хора, загинали или пострадали на своите работни места. Инициативата на КНСБ, да се съграждат  възпоменателни чешми, параклиси и паметни плочи, родила се в годините, се превърна в  традиция. Тя е уникална за Европа по своя характер и отразява българската духовност и съпричастност към трагедията сполетяла стотици хиляди български семейства. Днес трудовите хора  и гражданите на София, Хасково, Лъки, Гълъбово, “Кремиковци” – АД, “Стомана” – Перник, мини Бобов дол, пристанище Лом, Раднево, Бургас, Шумен, Сливен, Стара Загора, Струмянци, Мадан, Русе, Силистра, Добрич имат  своите  паметни места, на които  се прекланят пред паметта  на загиналите при трудови злополуки. Скромен но достоен жест. Принос в съпричастността ни към драмата на трудовите хора. Прекланяйки се пред паметта на загиналите, ние винаги сме припомняли на обществото, властимащите и работодателите, че всички ние оставаме длъжници на тези, които със своя труд създават обществените блага.

Днес всички ние, представители на синдикалната общност, бизнеса и отговорните държавни институции сме тук за да сведем глава в памет на загиналите наши братя и сестри. Да продължим заедно борбата и усилията си за повече безопасност на работните места за премахване на рисковете за живота и здравето на трудовите хора.
Да търсим и излъчваме важни послания към обществото. Да утвърждаваме и поощряваме добрите практики в хуманизирането на работната среда.

CSN The Conféderation des Syndicats Nationaux (CSN) is planning to distribute posters and leaflets in the framework of this 28th April to all their members, inviting them to hold a moment of silence at their workplaces and organise activities focusing on prevention. CSN, in cooperation with the Fédération des Travailleurs du Québec (FTQ) and the Central des Syndicats Démocratiques (CSD) have called on the Quebec government to officially recognise 28th April.

La Coordinadora del Sector Construcción de Chile “La Coordinadora del Sector Construcción de Chile” organización que agrupa a más de 30 organizaciones sindicales del sector construcción, dentro sus actividades del 28 de Abril,  ha programado  la elaboración de un “Mural” de 9 metros de largo por 2.50 metros de ancho, cuyo tema se relaciona con los trabajadores caídos por accidentes de trabajo, el mural será inaugurado en la local de la CNTC en la Ciudad de Santiago. Previamente se habrá disertado sobre “La Seguridad y la Salud en el Trabajo” por parte de autoridades gubernamentales en la matera y 28 de Abril se dará una ofrenda floral, en Río Colorado, San José de Maipo, lugar de la tragedia de Alfalfal donde perecieron 47 compañeros en un fatal accidente de trabajo.

SINTRAPIZANO La Intergremial, instancia de coordinación del sector construcción y madera en Colombia conformada por 5 organizaciones sindicales, ha programado para el 28 de abril, una Jornada en el Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje de Colombia (SENA). La jornada para trabajadores, estudiantes e interesados versará sobre “El Trabajo en  Alturas” y se espera una participación en torno a las 100 personas.

Por su parte el SINTRAPIZANO, organización sindical del sector madera en Colombia realizó el taller “Salud y Seguridad”  en la ciudad de Barranquilla, los días 7, 8 y 9 de abril en donde también participaron trabajadores de los sindicatos de las empresas Forestal Monterrey, Zambrano - Bolívar, Cartón - Colombia y  Maderien de Urabá. Participaron 6 facilitadores y se hizo la visita al Centro de Trabajo de la Empresa Pizano, SA.

SSSH/UATUC In 2007, and following the demand of the Union of Autonomous Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH/UATUC), the Croatian government declared 28 April as the National Day of Occupational Safety and Health. This year, the UATUC asked the Government and the Parliament to organize a number of events to mark the Day of Occupational Safety and Health – 28 April – in Croatia. SSSH/UATUC will organise a commemoration will be held in Zagreb’s city centre, from This 28th April, from 10 to 2pm. Leaflets and other awareness-raising materials will be developed and distributed. UATUC’s President Ana Knežević and UATUC OHS expert will participate in a Croatian Parliament’s round table on 27th April entitled “Safe maintenance for Safe Work”, with the participation of the members of the National OSH Council (which includes trade unions). This round table will focus on the implementation of the joint OSH National programme and the findings of the labour inspectorate on this regard, occupational illnesses, the role of trade unions in implementing OHS, especially of the national coordination. Furthermore, on 28th April, the UATUC will open its Council, with a ceremony devoted to the 14th International Commemoration Day and the National Day of OSH.

SSSH/UATUC En 2007, y a raíz de la demanda de la Unión de Sindicatos Autónomos de Croacia (SSSH/UATUC), el Gobierno croata declaró el 28 de abril como el Día Nacional de la Salud y Seguridad. Este año, la UATUC solicitó al Gobierno y al Parlamento que organicen una serie de actos para conmemorar el Día.

SSSH/UATUC organizará una conmemoración en el centro de Zagreb, este 28 de abril, desde las 10 hasta las 14hs. Folletos y otros materiales de sensibilización serán desarrollados y distribuidos. La Presidente de UATUC Ana Knežević y el experto de SST de UATUC participarán en una mesa redonda del Parlamento de Croacia el 27 de abril, titulada "Mantenimiento seguro de Trabajo Seguro", con la participación de los miembros del Consejo Nacional de SST (que incluye a los sindicatos). Esta mesa redonda se centrará en la aplicación del programa conjunto en materia de SST Nacional y las conclusiones de la inspección del trabajo sobre el mismo, las enfermedades profesionales, el papel de los sindicatos en la aplicación de la SST, especialmente de la coordinación nacional. Además, el 28 de abril, la UATUC abrirá su Consejo con una ceremonia dedicada al 14° Día Internacional de Conmemoración y Día Nacional de la SST.

Cette année, l'UATUC a demandé au gouvernement et au Parlement d'organiser un certain nombre d'événements pour marquer la Journée de la sécurité et la santé en Croatie. Ce 28 Avril l’UATUC organisera une célébration au centre-ville de Zagreb, entre 10 et 14 heures. Dépliants et autres supports de sensibilisation seront élaborés et distribués. La présidente de l’UATUC Ana Knežević et leur responsable de SST participeront à une table ronde au Parlement croate le 27 avril intitulé «Sécurité de la maintenance, sécurité des emplois", avec la participation des membres du Conseil national de la SST (qui comprend les syndicats). Cette table ronde mettra l'accent sur la mise en œuvre du programme commun national de SST et les conclusions de l'inspection du travail sur ce sujet, les maladies professionnelles, le rôle des syndicats dans la mise en œuvre de la SST, en particulier de la coordination nationale. En outre, le 28 avril, l'UATUC ouvrira son Conseil avec une cérémonie consacrée à la 14e Journée internationale de commémoration et la Journée nationale de la SST.

CMKOS On the occasion of the International Commemoration Day For Dead and Injured Workers on 28 April the Czech - Moravian Confederation of Trade Unions (CMKOS) organises the commemoration activity with candle ceremony and the seminar focused on the topic of the International Day "Unions Make Work Safer". Special attention will be paid to nanotechnologies and their influence on health as a rather new H&S topic. LO/FTF This 28 April, the Danish Confederation of Trade Unions (LO), the Confederation of Employees and Civil Servants in Denmark (FTF) and their affiliated unions will organise special activities under the motto "Safe and healthy work for all". Danish trade unions will honour the memory of those workers – Danish and foreign – who are killed every year at the workplace and focus on other negative consequences of poor health & safety standards. Activities will also focus on global development, which puts workers’ rights and health under pressure, and the need for workers’ solidarity across borders. All over the country, conferences, meetings and street activities focusing on health and safety at work will be organised. LO/FTF Este 28 de abril, la Confederación Danesa de Sindicatos (LO), la Confederación de Empleados y Funcionarios Públicos en Dinamarca (FTF) y sus sindicatos afiliados, organizará actividades especiales bajo el lema "Una buena salud y seguridad laboral para todos". Los sindicatos daneses honrarán la memoria de los trabajadores - daneses y extranjeros - que mueren cada año en el lugar de trabajo y se centrarán en otras consecuencias de la mala salud y seguridad laborales. Las actividades también se centrarán en el desarrollo mundial, que coloca los derechos de los trabajadores y la salud bajo presión, y la necesidad de solidaridad de los trabajadores de todo el mundo. En todo el país, conferencias, reuniones y espectáculos de calle se centrarán en la salud y seguridad en el trabajo. LO/FTF Ce 28 avril, la Confédération danoise des syndicats (LO), la Confédération des employés et des fonctionnaires du Danemark (FTF) et leurs syndicats affiliés organiseront des activités spéciales sous la devise «un travail sûr et sain pour tous". Les syndicats danois honorerons la mémoire de ces travailleurs - danois et étrangers - qui sont tués chaque année sur le lieu de travail et se concentrer sur d'autres conséquences négatives d'une mauvaise santé et les normes de sécurité. Activités seront également axées sur le développement mondial, qui place les droits des travailleurs et de la santé sous la pression, et la nécessité de la solidarité ouvrière à travers les frontières. Partout dans le pays, des conférences, des réunions et des activités de la rue en se concentrant sur la santé et la sécurité au travail seront organisées. INRS/CFDT This 28th April, all French Confederations along with their employer partners, organized under the INRS, will organize a meeting in Paris to debate on how to understand, anticipate and prevent new risks at work. The CFDT Rhone-Alpes will organize a meeting in Baume les Aix, and will count with the participation of trade unions leaders, OHS representatives, local unionists and technical experts. SINCS-G El SINCS-G y 28 de Abril como Día Nacional de la Salud Ocupacional El Sindicato Nacional de la Construcción y Similares de Guatemala, SINCS-G, expresó su preocupación a la cámara patronal de la industria de la construcción y a las autoridades laborales el 22 de abril como preámbulo a la serie de charlas a trabajadores, estudiantes de medicina, arquitectura e ingeniería de una de las principales casa de estudios superiores de Guatemala los días 25 – 27 de abril. El propio 28 de abril brindaron una rueda de prensa a medios de comunicación y distribuyeron información sobre la importancia de actualizar la legislación sobre salud e higiene ocupacional y hacerle seguimiento para evitar accidentes fatales en la industria. Guatemala ha institucionalizado el día 28 de abril como Día Nacional de la Salud Ocupacional.

SINCS-G Desde 2004, el día 28 de abril es Día Nacional de la Salud y Seguridad Ocupacional en Guatemala, por acuerdo Ministerial 194-2004, de fecha 20 de abril de ese año. El decreto que da origen a este mandato también insta al Ministerio de Trabajo y Previsión Social a coordinar con el Consejo Nacional de Salud y Seguridad Ocupacional actividades de prevención y divulgación sobre la materia. El movimiento sindical guatemalteco y particularmente el SINCS-G del sector construcción y afiliado a la ICM se ha ido apropiando de estos recursos a fin de contribuir en generar una conciencia y cultura de la salud laboral en el trabajo.

Distribución gratuita de equipos de seguridad básicos y reflexión sobre su correcta utilización es otra de las actividades que desarrollará el Sindicato Nacional de la Construcción y Similares de Guatemala (SINCS-G) en una jornada itinerante por las ciudades de Quetzaltenango, Huehuetenango y San Marcos entre los días 23 y 28 de abril próximo.

La jornada culminará en el salón Mayor de la Municipalidad de Quetzaltenango el día 28 de abril con un Panel Foro Tripartito con participación del Sector Sindical, Gobierno y Empleadores para trabajadores, empresarios, empleados públicos, estudiantes y público en general.

SINTRAINCEHSA Nuestro sindicato afiliado de Honduras, el SINTRAINCEHSA ha organizado una concentración de familiares y amigos de víctimas de accidentes de trabajo frente a la Planta Cementera La Farge de Comayagua. El acto se realizará el día 28 de abril a las 9 de la mañana, y será ocasión para reflexionar sobre la necesidad de insistir en la normatividad y su cumplimiento para evitar accidentes pero también en los compromisos patronales para la reivindicación de lesionados y como parte de una política de seguridad social integral. MSZOSZ On April 28 MSZOSZ (National Confederation of Hungarian Trade Unions) has organised together with the "Főcze Lajos Foundation for safety reps" a national conference with over 300 safety representatives, employer OSH responsible, representatives of occupational safety and health related public institutions. Participants to the conference commemorated the 99 workers who died in workplace accidents and the 18.454 victims of workplace accidents during 2009. The candles were lit in the name of MSZOSZ presidium for those colleagues and the OSH representatives passed over the last year. The president of the National Labour Inspectorate – the public institution responsible for OSH – called for appropriate attention to raise awareness regarding human factor as main cause of fatal accidents, from the side of workers and employers alike. The practice of law, the compliance with written rules is necessary in significantly lowering the rate of workplace accidents.
Special attention must be paid to workers’ reactions and behaviour vis a vis employers “orders” – especially during the economic crisis period there is heavy pressure to “obey” to often hazardous tasks at the workplaces. In this respect unions have an outstanding responsibility to prepare workers and monitor employer practices. MSZOSZ and its affiliates stand for increasing their role in workplace OSH activities and press for election of workplace safety reps later this year. The conference also served as an opportunity to launch the second volume of the book “Defend yourself – occupational safety in commerce” – a much positive initiative of MSZOSZ Commerce Employees Union.

LIGA For this 28th April, LIGA, the Hungarian Democratic League of Independent Trade Unions will raise awareness on the challenges workers face in their workplaces. LIGA events will promote the International Commemoration Day for Dead and Injured Workers in the capital as well as in the countryside. LIGA is planning to organise a two day Conference on Occupational Health and Safety where different actors (Health and Safety Committee, the National Institute for Occupational Health and Medicine, the Hungarian Labour Inspectorate, the National Labour Council and representative organisations of employees and employers, foundations, manufacturers of work equipments) will gather to change practices in order to make work safer.  LIGA will also organise commemorations and press conferences. In addition, LIGA aims at raising awareness on the importance of Work Safety among the public and international tourists visiting Hungary. For this purpose, for this 28th of April, LIGA will have an installation placed in the most visited Vörösmarty Square in Budapest, where posters, flyers and other tools will be promoting the importance of Occupational Health and Safety.

LIGA Para este 28 de abril, LIGA, la Liga Democrática de Sindicatos Independientes de Hungría trabajará en la concienciación y la sensibilización a los desafíos a los que se enfrentan los trabajadores en sus lugares de trabajo. Los eventos de LIGA promoverán el Día Internacional en la capital, así como en el interior del país. LIGA tiene previsto organizar una conferencia de dos días sobre Salud y Seguridad en donde los diferentes actores (Comité de Seguridad y Salud, el Instituto Nacional de Salud Ocupacional y Medicina, la Inspección de Trabajo, el Consejo Nacional del Trabajo y organizaciones representativas de trabajadores y empresarios, fundaciones) se reunirán para cambiar las prácticas con el fin de hacer el trabajo más seguro. LIGA también organizará actos conmemorativos y conferencias de prensa. Además, LIGA tiene por objeto aumentar la conciencia sobre la importancia de la Seguridad en el Trabajo entre el público y los turistas internacionales que visitan Hungría. A tal efecto, para este 28 de abril, LIGA tendrá una instalación colocada en la plaza Vörösmarty, la más visitada en Budapest, donde serán distribuidos carteles, folletos y otras herramientas sobre la promoción de la importancia de la salud y seguridad.

LIGA Pour ce 28 avril, LIGA, la Ligue hongroise démocratique des syndicats indépendants travaillera sur la sensibilisation aux défis auxquels font face les travailleurs dans leur lieu de travail. Les événements de la LIGA vont promouvoir la Journée internationale de commémoration des travailleurs morts et blessés dans la capitale ainsi que dans le reste du pays. LIGA envisage d'organiser une conférence de deux jours sur la santé et la sécurité où  différents acteurs (responsables de santé et sécurité, l'Institut national d'hygiène et de médecine, l'inspection du travail, le Conseil national du travail et des organisations représentatives des salariés et des employeurs, des fondations) se réuniront pour modifier les pratiques afin de rendre le travail plus sûr. LIGA organisera également des commémorations et des conférences de presse.
En outre, LIGA vise à sensibiliser sur l'importance de la sécurité au travail auprès du grand public et les touristes internationaux en visite en Hongrie. A cet effet, pour ce 28 avril, LIGA aura une installation placée dans la place la plus visité de Budapest, Vörösmarty Square, où seront distribués des affiches, des dépliants et autres outils sur l'importance de la santé et la  sécurité.

Április 28-án van a Munkahelyi Balesetben Megsérültek és Elhunytak Nemzetközi Emléknapja, amelyet először 1984-ben a Kanadai Közalkalmazottak Szakszervezete tartott meg, majd 1996-ban emelkedett a nemzetközi napok közé az ENSZ-nél is, mikor a Szabad Szakszervezetek Nemzetközi Szövetségének kezdeményezésére egy emlékgyertyát gyújtottak azok tiszteletére, akik munkájuk következtében vesztették életüket. 2003 óta a Nemzetközi Munkaügyi Szervezet (ILO) a Munkavédelem Napjaként tartja számon ezt a napot.

Hazánkban is jelentős számú áldozatot követelnek az egészségre ártalmas, illetve balesetveszélyes munkakörülmények. A 2008-ban ellenőrzés alá vont munkavállalók 62 százalékánál találtak a munkavédelmi felügyelők egészségre ártalmas vagy balesetveszélyes munkakörülményeket. Az előző évben naponta - beleértve a hétvégéket is - 60 munkabaleset történt, melyek közül minden harmadik nap egy halálos kimenetelű volt.

CISL For this 28th April, the Confederazione Italiana Sindacati dei Lavoratori (CISL) will join international efforts to achieve a global asbestos ban. The CISL will organise a conference which will address all aspects of the relationships between working people and asbestos in Italy. The conference “Asbestos, accelerating the solutions: health monitoring, victims’ fund, lawsuits and decontamination” will take place in Rome. Representatives from the unions, asbestos victims’ associations, universities, research institutes, ministries and members of the Parliament are expected to participate.

LBAS The Free Trade Union Confederation of Latvia (LBAS) in the context of its 20th Anniversary is dedicating the month of April to health and safety issues. More than 250 trade unionists have already participated in four regional seminars which took place in Latvia. In these seminars trade unionists and workplace Health & Safety Officers have discussed the new amendments to the Law on Labor Safety adopted this year in Latvia as well as trade union’s role in this field.This 28th April, a closing ceremony for the month will be organised for about 80 participants: trade unions’ Health and Safety officers, employers’ organizations and enterprises, representatives from municipalities, researchers and state authorities, e.g. State Labor Inspectorate and ministries. The LBAS published this year the “Guidelines on Labor Safety for Health and Safety Officers” which are now being distributed to trade unions and employers’ organizations in Latvia. Este 28 de abril se organizará una ceremonia de clausura del mes que contará con la participación de alrededor de 80 personas: delegados de salud laboral de los sindicatos, organizaciones de empleadores y empresas, representantes de municipios, investigadores y autoridades estatales, por ejemplo, la Inspección del Trabajo y ministerios. Dans ces séminaires des syndicalistes et des délégués d'hygiène et de sécurité ont examiné les nouveaux amendements à la loi sur la sécurité au travail adoptée cette année en Lettonie ainsi que le rôle des syndicats dans ce domaine. Ce 28 avril, une cérémonie de clôture des activités du mois sera organisée pour environ 80 participants: délégués d’hygiène et sécurité, organisations patronales et entreprises, des représentants des municipalités, les chercheurs et les autorités de l'Etat, par exemple, l'inspection du travail et les ministères. La LBAS a publié cette année les «Lignes directrices sur la sécurité du travail pour les agents de CHSCT» qui sont actuellement distribués aux syndicats et aux organisations d'employeurs en Lettonie. MCTU For this 28th April, the Malawi Congress of Trade Unions (MCTU) will join 28th April with a series of activities which will include a march, speeches delivered by workers, employers and the government, exhibitions focusing on occupational health and safety and traditional dances. Over 100 workers will take part in the event, coming from the teachers’ union, private schools, electricity, building and construction, hotels, communication, sugar, tobacco and the MCTU secretariat. The Malawian Minister of Labour will participate in the event. The MCTU will accompany the workers in the march and strengthen ITUC motto “Unions make work safer”. MCTU considered this theme to address the difficulties they are facing to organize tobacco workers, and to show employers unions have a role to play on OHS.

MCTU Para este 28 de abril, el Congreso de Sindicatos de Malawi (MCTU) se unirá al 28 de abril con una serie de actividades que incluirán una marcha, discursos pronunciados por los trabajadores, los empleadores y el gobierno, exposiciones centradas en la salud y seguridad ocupacional y danzas tradicionales.

Le ministre malawien du Travail participera à l'événement. Le MCTU accompagnera les travailleurs dans la marche et soulignera la devise de la CSI "Les syndicats rendent le travail plus sûr". MCTU a considéré que ce thème s’appliquait bien aux difficultés auxquelles ils font face au moment d’organiser les travailleurs du tabac, et servirait pour montrer aux employeurs le rôle que les syndicats ont un rôle à jouer sur la SST.

CMWEU On the morning of 28th April CMWEU will focus on risk assessment, while in the afternoon they will hold a press conference and a have a special activity at the workers monument in Rose Hill where they plan to deliver messages and flowers. The activity will be attended by 50 Union delegates from Mauritius and 25 delegates from Rodriguez Island.

CNSM For this April 28, the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM) will focus its activities on preventing accidents and diseases at the workplace through social dialogue and tripartism.
This Wednesday, the CNSM will hold a commemoration to be attended by over 400 representatives of social partners and union members under the theme "Emerging risks and new forms of prevention in a changing world of work." Participants will commemorate workers who have lost their lives at work to make their voices heard and demand the protection and promotion of workers’ health as a way to achieve a fair globalization. Many CNSM sectoral federations will take part in actions on the occasion April 28. El 28 de abril 2010 se celebrará una reunión conmemorativa a la que asistirán más de 400 representantes de los interlocutores sociales y miembros del sindicato bajo el lema "Nuevos riesgos y nuevas formas de prevención en el cambiante mundo del trabajo". Los participantes conmemorarán a los trabajadores que han perdido la vida en el trabajo para hacer oír su voz y demandar la protección y promoción de la salud de los trabajadores como una manera de lograr una globalización justa. Gran parte de las federaciones sectoriales de la CNSM participará también en las mismas acciones con motivo del  28 de abril.

CMTU The Confederation of Mongolian Trade Unions (CMTU) prepares a campaign for this 28th April under the theme “Unions make work safer”. 28th April will be used for commemorating workers who have died in the Nalaikh Mining Accident. In addition this 28th April will also be the occasion for many awareness raising activities and prevention actions in Mongolia: 
The CMTU has prepared a guideline inviting its members to organize an “open day” between 19- 28 April, aimed at raising public awareness on the role of OHS laws. The CMTU will follow up with articles in the national media. The 28 April guideline also calls on unions to conduct a training seminar on OHS issues in sectors facing high risk of OHS accidents or diseases, such as Mining, Energy, Construction, Road, Transport and Industry, and undertake a “Quiz” competition on OHS on May Day 2010 among the young CMTU members. In addition, this 26-30 April CMTU labour inspectors will be granted with certificates as official State Labour inspectors after a 5-day training seminar.

CMTU La Confederación de Sindicatos de Mongolia (CMTU) prepara una campaña para este 28 de abril bajo el lema "Con sindicatos el trabajo es más seguro". Este 28 de abril se utilizará para conmemorar a los trabajadores que han muerto en el accidente en la mina de Nalaikh. Además, este 28 de abril será también la ocasión de organizar diversas actividades de sensibilización y acciones de prevención en Mongolia.
La CMTU preparó una guía que invita a sus miembros a organizar un "día de puertas abiertas" entre el 19 y el 28 abril, centradas en la sensibilización pública sobre el papel de las leyes de SST. La CMTU hará un seguimiento con artículos de prensa en los medios nacionales. La guía también pide a los sindicatos llevar a cabo un seminario de formación sobre los problemas de SST en sectores con alto riesgo de accidentes o enfermedades, como Minería, Energía, Construcción, Carreteras, Transporte e Industria, y llevar a cabo un Concurso sobre SST para el 1 de mayo 2010 entre la juventud de la CMTU. Además, este 26-30 Abril los inspectores del trabajo de la CMTU recibirán certificados oficiales del Estado que los reconocerá como inspectores del trabajo nacionales después de un seminario de capacitación de 5 días.

Ce 28 avril sera utilisé pour commémorer les travailleurs qui sont morts dans l'accident dans la mine de Nalaikh. En outre ce 28 avril sera également l'occasion d’organiser de nombreuses activités de sensibilisation et prévention en Mongolie: Le CMTU a préparé un guide invitant ses membres à organiser une journée «portes ouvertes» entre le  19 - 28 avril visant à sensibiliser le public au rôle des lois en matière de SST. Le CMTU fera le suivi avec des articles dans les médias nationaux. Le guide du 28 avril invite également les syndicats à organiser un séminaire de formation sur les questions de SST dans les secteurs confrontés à un risque élevé d'accidents ou de maladies professionnelles, comme les mines, l’énergie, la construction, les routes, les transports et l'Industrie, et de procéder à un «quiz» sur la SST pour la fête du 1er Mai 2010 parmi les jeunes membres de la CMTU. En outre, entre le 26-30 Avril, les inspecteurs du travail de la CMTU recevront les diplômes d’inspecteurs du travail officiels après un séminaire de formation de 5 jours.

GEFONT On 28 April, the Nepalese union federation GEFONT demanded the country's government ban asbestos. The union also called for employers and government to deliver safe and healthy workplaces. more

BWI/IMF Joint Activity – Kathmandu. Affiliates along with national centres and other key stakeholders to organise a workshop on Asbestos and followed up by submission of a memorandum to Prime Minister for banning Asbestos.

FNV This 28 April, the Dutch Federation of Trade Unions FNV will receive the first copy of a report, produced by the Netherlands Center of Occupational Diseases in which facts and figures are presented about the amount of workers who die prematurely because of poor working conditions every year. This amount was estimated in 2004 to 2.500 every year. The FNV will honor the memory of these workers by a monument in front of the FNV building, specially made for this day.  A poem, written by Anne van Eijck is carved in a hard rock saying:

Worker's memorial day

I have no name anymore
But I still remember that day
when we worked, laughed together

Now I am resting behind shreds of clouds
And I am watching them from above.

The FNV demands Decent work for all workers. In the Netherlands, there are only 285 Labour Inspectors on Health and safety on a total workforce some 8 million workers! With this figure the Netherlands has the lowest amount of inspectors in Europe. The FNV activities will also focus on global development, which puts workers’ rights and health under pressure, and the need for workers’ solidarity across borders.

Esta cantidad se estimó en 2004 a 2,500 cada año. La FNV honrará la memoria de estos trabajadores con un monumento en frente del edificio FNV, hechas especialmente para este día. Un poema, escrito por Anne van Eijck está tallado en la roca:

Las actividades de la FNV también se centrarán en el desarrollo mundial, que coloca los derechos de los trabajadores y la salud bajo presión, y la necesidad de solidaridad de los trabajadores a través de fronteras.

NZCTU The New Zealand Congress of Trade Unions (NZCTU) and thousands of workers are gathering in locations all over New Zealand for this April 28 to mark International Workers Memorial Day. They will remember the estimated 100 workers who have died in the workplace in the previous year, and the 700 to 1000 people who have died prematurely from long term diseases and conditions caused by their work. Joining the international theme “Unions make work safer”, NZCTU Secretary, Peter Conway said: “It is above all unions who are the driving force behind safer working practices and environment. Historically it has been unions who have been responsible for identifying, publicising and campaigning against unsafe work. Historiquement, ce sont les syndicats qui ont été chargés d'identifier, faire connaître et de faire campagne contre le travail dangereux. Aujourd'hui, en Nouvelle-Zélande, les syndicats ont encore de l’avance en matière de formation et en assurant la santé au travail et à la sécurité, et attirant l'attention sur les menaces telles que le bromure de méthyle dans l'industrie du bois." SUNTRACS Los compañeros del SUNTRACS de Panamá han organizado un despliegue de posters, volantes y pancartas que han colocado en puentes y pasarelas de las principales ciudades del país para llamar la atención sobre Salud Laboral. El día 19 de abril han programado una rueda de prensa en medios nacionales y para el día 28 de abril han programado una sesión de proyecciones de videos y películas a trabajadores y familiares, seguido de disertaciones sobre la importancia de la Salud Laboral.

SINTRAIGCMA Prevención de Accidentes en la construcción de edificios El Sindicato Nacional de Trabajadores de las Industrias en General, la Construcción, Madera y Afines (SINTRAIGCMA) realizó en su sede de la ciudad de Asunción, Paraguay una conferencia sobre “Condiciones Generales en la Construcción de Edificios y Prevención de Accidentes” para trabajadores y trabajadoras de la industria de la construcción. La charla estuvo a cargo del especialista Arq. Rubén Duarte y generó un debate en base a preguntas y respuestas entre los participantes.

Paraguay Para el jueves 22 de abril se ha programado un Seminario para Trabajadores afiliados a FETRACOMP, una de las afiliadas de la ICM en Paraguay. Las empresas  INDALCO, VMTySS, y DIGESA compartirán con trabajadores información sobre la optima utilización de equipos de Protección Personal en la Construcción (guantes, zapatones, cascos, arneses).

El miércoles 28 se acompañará el lanzamiento de la Resolución del Ministerio de Justicia y Trabajo por la cual se regulariza la situación de técnicos especialistas en Salud y Seguridad en el Trabajo. En horas de la tarde de este día se clausura la campaña de Salud Laboral en la industria.

CUT The Peruvian Confederacion Unitaria de Trabajadores (CUT) will be actively involved in this years’ 28 April. ALU/TUCP In the opening of a five-day series of activities dedicated to 28th April, the Associated Labor Unions (ALU), the Building and Woodworkers International (BWI) and the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) reiterated their call to ban asbestos in the Philippines in a ceremony on 23 April 2010 at the ALU/TUCP offices along Elliptical Road in Quezon City. In this occasion, trade union leaders signed a petition in support for asbestos ban and lighted torches in remembrance of the dead and injured workers due to asbestos and unsafe workplaces. They urged all sectors to work for Canada to stop mining and exporting asbestos to the Philippines; The ratification of ILO Convention No 162 on Safety in the Use of Asbestos, and the passage of asbestos ban bill in the Philippines. An “Asbestos Tree” will display these demands. The Tree, a narra tree, signifies long life and shows parallelism to the long latency period of asbestos diseases of up to 40 years. Videos and visual materials on asbestos and its hazards, free internet access and other freebies await visitors on 23-28 April 2010. On 28th April, a march is planned at 6am in TUCP building, followed y debates on ILO OHS-related instruments, asbestos and the lighting of a giant torch.

ALU/TUCP En la apertura de una serie de eventos dedicados al 28 de abril, la Unión de Sindicatos Asociados (ALU), la Federación Internacional de la Construcción y la Madera (BWI) y el Congreso de Sindicatos de Filipinas (TUCP) reiteraron su llamado a la prohibición del amianto en Filipinas en una ceremonia el 23 de abril de 2010 en las oficinas de la ALU/TUCP en la ciudad de Quezon. En dicha ocasión, dirigentes sindicales realizaron una ceremonia de firmas en apoyo a la prohibición del amianto e iluminaron antorchas en memoria de los trabajadores muertos y enfermos por el amianto y los lugares de trabajo inseguros. Los dirigentes sindicales instaron a todos los sectores a trabajar por el freno de la extracción y exportación de asbesto/amianto de Canadá a Filipinas; la ratificación del Convenio de la OIT n º 162, sobre seguridad en la utilización del amianto y el paso del proyecto de ley la prohibición del amianto en las Filipinas. Se expondrá también un “árbol del amianto" mostrando estas demandas. El árbol, un árbol narra, significa la vida y muestra un paralelismo con el largo período de latencia de las enfermedades del amianto de hasta 40 años. Videos y material visual sobre el amianto y sus riesgos, acceso gratuito a Internet y otros regalos esperan a los visitantes de 23 a 28 abril, 2010. El 28 de abril se prevé una marcha a las 6am desde el edificio del TUCP, seguido por debates sobre los instrumentos de la OIT relativos a la SST, el amianto y el encendido de una antorcha gigante.

ALU/TUCP Lors de l'ouverture d'une série de cinq jours d'activités consacrées au 28 avril, les syndicats de travail associé (ALU), La Fédération des travailleurs du bâtiment et du bois (IBB) et le Congrès des syndicats des Philippines (TUCP) ont réitéré leur appel à l'interdiction de l'amiante dans les Philippines lors d'une cérémonie le 23 avril 2010 aux bureaux de l'ALU/TUCP à Quezon City. Le vice-président national de l’ALU Gérard Seno, le directeur de l'éducation TUCP Rafael Mapalo, et plus de 20 autres dirigeants syndicaux ont conduit la cérémonie de signature de soutien à l’interdiction de l'amiante et à l'allumage des torches à la mémoire des travailleurs morts et de blessés dus à l'amiante et les lieux de travail dangereux. Les torches garderont leurs feux jusqu'à la Journée internationale de commémoration le 28 avril 2010. Les dirigeants syndicaux ont exhorté tous les secteurs à travailler pour:
- que le Canada cesse l'exploitation minière et l'exportation de l'amiante aux Philippines;
- La ratification de la Convention de l'OIT n° 162 sur la sécurité dans l'utilisation de l'amiante;
- Le Programme national pour l'élimination des maladies relatives à l'amiante (NPEAD), et
- le projet de loi d’interdiction de l'amiante dans les Philippines.

IOHSAD The Institute for Occupational Health and Safety Development is commemorating Workers' Memorial Day by launching the project “Paint the Town Red”, with support from the Australian People for Health, Education and Development Abroad (APHEDA), the Asia Ban Asbestos Network (A-BAN) and the Visayas Human Development Agency, Inc (ViHDA). The project aims to tap graffiti artists and their medium to popularise issues of occupational health and safety (OHS) and asbestos bans among the general population,especially among the younger generation.

UGT In the context of this 28th April, and endorsing the international labour theme “Unions make work safer”, the Portuguese UGT elaborated documents on the evolution of OHS in Portugal in the last 10 years. UGT has also translated into Portuguese and adapted the ITUC background document and produced a poster for 2010, to be widely distributed among members. You can find the flyer and the poster in ITUC/Hazards website on 28 April. An official session to commemorate the National Day for Prevention and Safety at Work will also be carried out. This National Day has been established in Portugal since 2001 and the session will be attended by the Minister for Labour, Deputies from the Portuguese Parliament and social partners. In Lisbon Setúbal and Porto important seminars will be organized around April 28. In addition, all UGT-Portugal’s facilities will have their flags at half mast in memory of all the deceased workers, as it has been the case since the beginning of this commemoration.

UGT En el marco de este 28 de abril, y haciendo suyo el lema internacional "Con sindicatos el trabajo es más seguro", la UGT portuguesa ha elaborado documentos sobre la evolución de la SST en Portugal en los últimos 10 años. UGT también tradujo al portugués y adaptó el documento de información de la CSI y elaboró un cartel para 2010, que será ampliamente difundido entre sus miembros. Una sesión oficial de conmemoración del Día Nacional de Prevención y Seguridad en el Trabajo también se llevará a cabo. Este Día Nacional se ha establecido en Portugal desde 2001 y la sesión contará con la presencia del Ministro de Trabajo, los diputados del Parlamento de Portugal y los sociales.En Lisboa, Setúbal y Oporto importantes seminarios se organizarán en torno al 28 de abril. Además, todas las oficinas de UGT-Portugal tendrán sus banderas a media asta en memoria de todos los trabajadores fallecidos, como lo ha sido el caso desde el inicio de esta conmemoración.

FKTU For this 28th April, the Federation of Korean Trade Unions (FKTU) representing one million workers in Korea will again conduct various activities to raise awareness of occupational health & safety under the theme of 'trade unions make work safer'. FKTU has established as priorities for 28th April to reform the OHS system for it to include workers' participation, to increase regulation and corporate social responsibility for strengthening OHS and to secure the right to health of vulnerable workers. For the 10th year, this 28th April, FKTU will hold a memorial ceremony in front of the memorial tower, Seoul with unionists, injured workers, families, representatives of the ministry of labour and employers, among others. A photo exhibition on OHS will be organised.  During April, FKTU held workshops with union officials in charge of occupational health and safety. Also a forum on industrial accidents compensation insurance will be organized. On 27th April, FKTU will announce the most dangerous workplaces. Between April and June, FKTU will continue to conduct various campaigns to promote occupational health and safety nationwide.

FKTU Para este 28 de abril, la Federación Coreana de Sindicatos (FKTU), que representa un millón de trabajadores llevará a cabo diversas actividades para crear conciencia sobre la salud laboral bajo el tema “Con sindicatos el trabajo es más seguro”. FKTU ha establecido como prioridades para 28 de abril la reforma del sistema de SST para que pueda incluir la participación de los trabajadores, aumentar la regulación y la responsabilidad social de las empresas para fortalecer la SST y garantizar el derecho a la salud de los trabajadores vulnerables. Por décimo año, este 28 de abril, FKTU llevará a cabo una ceremonia conmemorativa frente al monumento de conmemoración  de Seúl con sindicalistas, trabajadores lesionados, familias, los representantes del ministerio de trabajo y los empleadores, entre otros. Se organizará también una exposición de fotos sobre SST. Durante abril, FKTU ha llevado a cabo talleres con sindicalistas encargados de la salud y seguridad laborales. También se llevará a cabo un foro sobre la compensación de accidentes industriales. El 27 de abril, FKTU dará a conocer los lugares de trabajo más peligrosos. Entre abril y junio, FKTU continuará realizando diversas campañas para promover la salud y seguridad ocupacional en todo el país.

Pour la 10e année, ce 28 avril, FKTU tiendra une cérémonie commémorative en face au monument de commemoration de Séoul avec des syndicalistes, des travailleurs blessés, des familles, des représentants du ministère du Travail et les employeurs, entre autres. Une exposition de photos sur la SST sera organisée. En avril, FKTU a organisé des ateliers avec les représentants syndicaux chargés de la santé et sécurité au travail. Également un forum sur les indemnisations des accidents industriels sera organisé. Le 27 avril, FKTU annoncera les lieux de travail les plus dangereux. CCOO/UGT More than 170 events will be organized all over Spain by Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) and the Union General de Trabajadores (UGT) to commemorate those who have lost their lives and health at work, and to fight for healthy working conditions, in a moment where Spain is facing an unprecedented economic crisis and the temptations for saving costs in occupational risks is rising. These events will include assemblies of OHS representatives in more than 50 cities, concentrations, rallies, press conferences, artistic performances and exhibitions, workshops, minutes of silence, among others.  The huge amount of events makes it difficult for this brief report to account their diversity, so the full detailed reports from CCOO and UGT are attached. This 28th April the Spanish labour movement shows once again its impressive support for this International Day and joins the ITUC call under the slogan “Unions make work safer”.

Los actos incluyen reuniones de delegados de prevención en más de 50 ciudades, concentraciones, manifestaciones, conferencias de prensa, espectáculos artísticos y exposiciones, talleres, minutos de silencio, entre otros. La impresionante cantidad de eventos hace que sea difícil que este breve informe dar cuenta de su diversidad, por lo que se adjuntan los informes completos de CCOO y UGT. UNIA For this 28th April, Swiss workers, responding to the call of UNIA, the Swiss Confederation of Trade Unions, will launch their 2010-2011 campaign to sensitise workers and the public on the risks posed by Asbestos. The first event of the campaign will take place in Lugano, Switzerland. Two artists have been called upon to create more than 100 prints symbolizing the annual deaths due to asbestos exposure in Switzerland. Starting from that day an exhibition, accompanied by awareness raising activities such as media conferences, panel discussions, flyer distributions, etc will visit many cities in Switzerland.

UNIA Para este 28 de abril, los trabajadores de Suiza, en respuesta al llamamiento de la UNIA, la Confederación Suiza de Sindicatos, pondrán en marcha su campaña 2010-2011 para sensibilizar a los trabajadores y al público sobre los riesgos planteados por el asbesto/amianto. El primer evento de la campaña se llevará a cabo en Lugano, Suiza. Dos artistas han sido llamados a crear más de 100 grabados que simbolizan las muertes anuales debido a la exposición al amianto en Suiza. A partir de ese día una exposición, acompañada de actividades de sensibilización tales como conferencias de prensa, mesas redondas, distribución de folletos, etc visitará varias ciudades de Suiza.

UNIA Pour ce 28 avril, les travailleurs suisses, en réponse à l'appel de l'UNIA, la Confédération suisse des syndicats, vont lancer leur campagne 2010-2011  pour sensibiliser les travailleurs et le public aux risques posés par l'amiante. Le premier événement de la campagne aura lieu à Lugano en Suisse. Deux artistes ont été appelés à créer plus de 100 gravures symbolisant le décès annuels dus à l'amiante en Suisse. A partir de ce jour-là une exposition, accompagnée d'activités de sensibilisation telles que des conférences de presse, tables rondes, distributions de dépliants,  etc. visitera plusieurs villes en Suisse.

AFL-CIO For this 28th April, the AFL-CIO released its annual report: “Death on the Job: The Toll of Neglect”. The report concludes that US workplace safety laws and penalties are too weak to effectively protect workers.  As the country reels from the loss of the 29 miners at the Massey Upper Big Branch coal mine in West Virginia, the report shows that there were a total of 5,214 fatal workplace injuries in 2008.  Because underreporting of workplace-related injuries and illness remains a persistent problem, the true toll is estimated to be as many as three times the 4.6 million reported incidents. “In less than 3 months time, 42 workers have been killed in 3 major industrial.disasters – at Massey’s Upper Big Branch Mine, the Tesoro Refinery in Washington Stae and the Kleen Energy plant in Connecticut.  And eleven workers are missing and likely dead following last week’s catastrophic explosion at the Transocean oil rig off Louisiana- ,” said AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka.  “There’s no question that eight years of neglect and inaction by the Bush Administration seriously eroded safety and health protections, and put workers’ lives in danger.  Wall Street was allowed to do as it pleased with little oversight or accountability.  And now, with 11 million jobs and thousands of lives lost, we’re fighting to create the jobs—good jobs, safe jobs—that America’s working families so desperately need.”  US trade unions will be organizing events on April, 28 in 19 states, including processions, artistic performances, and conferences, among other activities. Parce que la sous-déclaration des accidents du travail et les maladies professionnelles demeure un problème persistant, le nombre réel est estimé à pas moins de trois fois les 4,6 millions incidents signalés. AFL-CIO The nation's workplace safety laws and penalties are too weak to effectively protect workers, according to the new AFL-CIO annual report released today: Death on the Job: The Toll of Neglect. As the country reels from the loss of the 29 miners at the Massey Upper Big Branch coal mine in West Virginia, the report shows that there were a total of 5,214 fatal workplace injuries in 2008. Because underreporting of workplace-related injuries and illness remains a persistent problem, the true toll is estimated to be as many as three times the 4.6 million reported incidents. AFL-CIO Construction of the national workers memorial to honor individuals killed on the job is under way at the National Labor College (NLC), Silver Spring, Maryland.. Dedicated on Workers Memorial Day 2009, the memorial with more than 10,000 bricks and scores of granite benches and pavers, will be finished in time to commemorate this year’s Workers Memorial Day, April 28. NYCOSH Within the framework of this years’ 28 April, the New York Committee for Occupational Safety and Health (NYCOSH) Safety & Health Immigrant Workers Council will organise an event this Saturday 24th April. The Conference, entitled “Immigrant Worker Memorial Day Observance” will identify concerns about hazardous work conditions, the means to protect workers and actions to be taken to prevent them.

Representatives of Ukrainian and Polish Building Workers Unions made a statement and answered questions from journalists. more

BWI The Building and Woodworkers’ International (BWI) has launched its global campaign, calling on building and forestry workers to mobilise for this 28th April, showing the world that unions make work safer. “BWI affiliates’ visibility in International campaigns such as workers’ health and safety day on 28th April is imperative if we are to influence policy and improve workplace representation” said BWI General Secretary Ambet Yuson. BWI H&S Director, Fiona Murie, pointed out that health and safety conditions are likely to get better and better when the unions are strong and active - they raise concerns and propose solutions. However the reverse also happens, and employers do not comply with H&S duties where the unions are weak*.

ICM La Internacional de Trabajadores de la Construcción y la Madera (ICM) ha lanzado su campaña mundial, pidiendo a los trabajadores y trabajadoras de la construcción que se movilicen este 28 de abril, mostrando al mundo que los sindicatos hacen el trabajo más seguro. "La visibilidad de los afiliados de la ICM en las campañas internacionales, como la de la salud y seguridad de los trabajadores el 28 de abril es imprescindible si queremos influir en la política y mejorar la representación en los lugares de trabajo", dijo el Secretario General de la ICM Ambet Yuson en el marco de las “Diez prioridades para el año 2010” de la ICM *. La directora de Salud y Seguridad en el trabajo, Fiona Murie, señaló que las condiciones de salud y la seguridad mejoran cuando los sindicatos son fuertes y activos - porque plantean problemas y proponen soluciones. Sin embargo, la inversa también ocurre, y los empleadores no cumplen con sus deberes en materia de salud laboral donde los sindicatos son débiles*.

IBB L’Internationale des Travailleurs du Bâtiment et du Bois (IBB) a lancé sa campagne mondiale appelant aux travailleurs et travailleuses des secteurs du bâtiment et du bois à se mobiliser pour ce 28 avril, montrant au monde que les syndicats font le travail plus sur. «La visibilité des affiliés de l'IBB dans les campagnes internationales, telles que celles sur la santé des travailleurs et la Journée du 28 avril est impérative si l'on veut influencer les politiques et améliorer la représentation dans les lieux de travail», a déclaré le Secrétaire général de l'IBB Ambet Yuson dans le cadre des « Dix priorités pour 2010 » de l’IBB*.La Directrice pour la Santé au Travail, Fiona Murie, a souligné que les conditions de santé et de sécurité sont susceptibles de s'améliorer si les syndicats sont forts et actifs -, ils soulèvent des préoccupations et proposent des solutions. Mais l'inverse arrive aussi, et les employeurs ne respectent pas les droits de SST là où les syndicats sont faibles*.

Guy Ryder, General Secretary of the ITUC, and John Monks, General Secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) will speak at this ceremony. Activities planned include the performance of the “Ensemble Vocal Chantfolllies”, candle lighting and a minute of silence.
