I know of sub-contractors that have been "asked" by the main contractor, to remove, or not employ, a certain individual just through his national insurance number. The information supplied to the main contractor may not even be accurate, but these arbitrary decisions stick.
I would not call this tribunal chairman a judge, purely on the basis that a judge is supposed to show intelligence and impartiality, both lacking as shown in this individual's decision.
It's business as usual, I'm afraid!

If a police officer puts his bobby's helmet down and I steal it - but give him it back a few weeks later, do I walk free?

As I'd suspected. Common theft, supervised by the police. Now there has to be justice to follow on

I would like to offer my full support to Steve and his fight against blacklisting and any other devious exploits these companies may be involved in , as being on the list myself I do understand and continue to fight this odious practice myself, a little more help and understanding from a Labour government would be helpful.

That is only those whose names were discovered by the Commissioners Office. Hundreds of others were on the lists compiled by 'Aims of Industry' & 'The Economic League' I was one of those. I was told by the manager of Poplar Labour Exchange in the 70's that I was "unemployable". Taylor Woodrow told him that "Not only would they not employ me in London, they would not employ me in any part of the UK. This was due to my involvement in the protracted Barbican dispute. What, if anything, will be done for people like myself?

As a certain number of these 'employers' have recently pleaded guilty, in court, to cover pricing on tenders to local councils around the country, and are STILL allowed to tender for local authority work, then the chances of debarring them on past and future blacklisting is fanciful in the extreme, especially with the record of this NEW Labour government on employment rights over the last twelve years. You knew where you were with the Tories, and you most certainly know where you are with this crowd.

I am in total agreement with the learned Professor. The opportunity to introduce an effective bar on blacklisting will have been missed and who knows when the legislators will be persuaded to revisit this highly contentious issue. It seems as if the Employers have the ear of Gov't and the victims, past& future, of this pernicious practice have been sidelined once again.
